Shannon — Jackson, Wyoming

Shannon -- Wyoming

This OB/GYN out in Wyoming gets things done! We had the great pleasure of meeting her at her office and also even tagging along as she visited with a patient in labor (who happened to also be 40!).

After medical school Shannon was originally going to pursue a residency in general surgery, but made the switch to obstetrics and gynecology because she found she loved the long-term relationships that came with this type of care. “Surgery is a blast, but after you remove someone’s Gall Bladder, you never see them again. As an OB/GYN I get to become friends with my patients, seeing them multiple times during the pregnancy, delivering their babies, seeing them once a year and watching their families grow. It’s awesome; women are fun to take care of.”

Shannon says one of the reasons she loves working with women is feeding off the energy they transmit. “Women are the universal caregiver, the unit the entire family is built on. They have a unique level of compassion and I love working with them. As a mom, I think I can relate to my patients on a very personal level.”
