“I’m a single mom of 2 young children and an Active Duty member of our Air Force. Many of my dearest girlfriends and I are turning 40 this year. My birthday is in two weeks and I’m not sure how I feel about it… I’ve had friends offer to throw a party for me, but I just can’t bring myself to plan anything. I’m not exactly where I wanted to be at this age, but then again…acceptance is key and is totally helping w/the happiness quotient.

I’m starting to grab life by the balls more and more and realizing how short and fragile life is–so I’m going for it.

Social norms be damned. Things may not have turned out the way I imagined they would, but then again — I was much younger when I was busy imagining
them, so now my thoughts of the future are more mature and realistic and I’m looking forward to squeezing everything I can out of the next 60 (or so)
years!! ”
